We like to think of our host family accommodation not just as somewhere to stay but a home away from home! Irish people are very family orientated and love to welcome visitors. We feel that staying with an Irish family is the best way for our students to practice their language skills and also give them the invaluable cultural experience of living as part of an Irish family.
We carefully choose our families, visiting each home to ensure its suitability and getting to know the family members. The vast majority of our families have been hosting our students for several years. Most have children the same age or a little younger than our students and our host-parents always comment on how much their children love the experience of having a Spanish “brother” or “sister” staying with them. Sunday is family day, where no activities are organised by the school and the student is free to spend time with the family.
Host families provide:
Private room (with access to a private or shared bathroom)
All meals (packed lunches Monday – Friday and on excursion days)
Laundry of student’s clothes
Bed sheets and towels
Wardrobe space for clothes
Most family houses are “chalet” or “adosado” style with a front and back garden and nearby play areas. We have many families in the same area which means our students are never far away from their friends! Our students have their own private room, access to a family bathroom, use of a desk or study area and wardrobe space. Most homes have wifi access. While some families host other students of different nationalities at the same time, our students will not share a host family with another Spanish student.
